Obeying the Lord

Image
I started attending a new church, and they have a daily bible reading guide. Each day has a different scripture to read as we are trying to read through the whole Bible.    As I was doing my bible reading for this morning, it has me in 1 Samuel. As I was reading the scripture, I was able to read something that I never had before.   In 1 Samuel Chapters 11-15, it shows two incidents that Saul, who was made king at the time, disobeyed what the Lord had told him to do. But the situation in chapter 15 is the one that got me.   “Thus, saith the Lord of host, I remember that which Amalek did to Israel, how he laid wait for him in the way, when he came from Egypt. Now go and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass” I Samuel 15:2 &3 (KJV)   So, the Lord told Samuel to tell Saul to go kill everything in Amalek. He wanted EVERYTHING destroyed. All the men, women, child...

Trust in the Lord

Recently, a situation happened that left me at a loss for words. I was shocked when it was told to me, and I began to get sad. But as I was sitting in my car, I immediately went into prayer, because I knew that me being sad would not do a thing. I needed strength to get through what was going on.   As I went on about my day, I kept hearing the word “trust.”   Trust? Why was this word placed on my heart?   So, I went and looked up the meaning of trust.  The meaning of trust is “firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something.”   “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths” (Proverbs 3:5&6)   Truly trust in the Lord it means that you have the firm belief In Gods ability to help us though out our lives and that Gods strength is way better than your own.    It was important for me to get to the point of ...

What does Kindness Cost?

Image
For those who do not know, I am a Sunday school teacher at my church. I teach the kids 6 to 10 years old. I love teaching kids this age because it’s fun and they are very smart children.   They love to learn new things about the bible and they ask so many questions.      We have been discussing kindness in our Sunday school class and why it is so important to be kind to others. Not just others, but be kind to all kinds.    As I was thinking on my Sunday school lessons a question came to mind.    How much does it cost to be kind to others?    This is a valid question because we see so much hate in the world. People don’t like each other because of their skin color, or they don’t associate with a certain person because of their background.    Why is that?   Do they feel they have the right to mistreat people just because they are different?  Or do they feel like they are better than other people because of w...

Being doers and not just hearers.

So, as I am sitting here at work, I had some down time and God placed on my heart James 1:22 which says “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.” Now I have heard that scripture plenty of times in my life, but I never really dwelled on it.  Now before I go into my blog, if you have not read the book of James I suggest you read it. Now God has been dealing with me on a lot of things lately. But it was interesting that this particular blog I started writing last year.   But why did he bring me back to this blog?  I simply needed it at this moment.  As a Christian there needs to be an understanding about God's word. He wants us to study his words and know his words so we can apply his words to our lives so we can out  lives for him. How good is it that we read the manual on how to put something together, and we toss it aside and put it together like we want to?    It's not going to come out right. Same thing wi...

Worry about Your life first.

I could never understand why people feel like it is ok to speak about other people's lives.  “Oh they are going through because they are not living a Godly life”.  Or they say “You they are being punished for what they did or did not do” They think it’s their duty to let others know how they feel about what’s going on in other peoples lives. It’s so funny that we can make other people's business our business, but we neglect the things in our lives that we need to get right for God. That is why so many people have a hard time in their lives. They always looking at their neighbors and they can tell you all of what’s wrong with that person and why their lives is going the way it is going, but refuse to look at self. If you honestly want to look at  someone life,  look at yourself.  Take a look at your life and see what needs to change.  Matthew 7:5 says “ Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to c...

Quality time with God

Quality Time with God     Have you ever just been sitting at home by yourself, and you find yourself having a whole conversation with God? You may have thought you were going crazy, but the conversation was a good conversation.    It had you sort of in your feelings because you did not want it to end.  That is the most wonderful feeling in the world.    To know you have that kind of relationship with God where you can have a lovely conversation with him, and you know without a shadow of a doubt that it is him that you are having a conversation with.    I find it funny how I got to this point in my life of writing and sharing inspirational messages with you all.   I really started studying and getting into the bible a few years ago. I always heard of the importance of studying and having time with God, but I never really did it for myself. Even after watching the movie “War Room” I never really got into having time with God.  ...

Walk by faith

It is time for us to stop talking about what we are going to do for God, and just do it! For over a year, God has been dealing with me on several things that he has placed in my life to do. And for over a year, I would start it, then I would stop it, then I would start it again, then I would stop it..again. This has become a cycle of stopping and starting things that God has placed in my life to do. But why am I stuck in this continuous cycle you may ask. Well it is simple. See, For the longest time, I have let things come in the way of me doing what God has placed in my  life to do.  See, I was letting fear control me. I was afraid to take a step of faith because I was unsure of the outcome. I was not putting my trust in God. 2 Corinthians 5:7 “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” What does that mean? It is simple. That means that we do what God told us to do, not knowing the outcome, not knowing what way God is going to take us, we just operate in faith knowing that God is g...

God Knows

So I missed putting up a blog on Friday, and  I missed church today because I was not feeling well.  And as I was sitting here and God was tugging at me to get into my Bible.  Now all I wanted to do was to lay down, but one thing I learned is that if God is talking to you it is for a reason.  So I got up, started praying, and I opened my Bible. I did not go to particular scripture, I just opened my Bible, and it opened to Psalms 139. It seems that I have been to this particular scripture before, but there was a reason God had me go here today.  The first verse says “ O Lord, thou hast searched me, and known me ”.   My eyes started watering up just for that alone.  The second verse says “ Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thoughts afar off ” See, as a child of God, he knows our thoughts and our minds. He knows our hearts. He knows if we truly want to work for him, and he knows if we are just putting on a fr...
